Dale Earnhardt Jr led all 40 laps to win his first Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway to transfer into the Sprint All Star Race. AJ Allmendinger who started on the pole, finished 2nd place after having a flat left front tire at the start of the race and makes his way into the All-Star Race.

The race will be on Saturday on SPEED at about 9:00 pm EST. The last three positions will be for the Sprint Showdown winner, the Sprint Showdown runner-up, and the fan vote winner. Format for the All-Star race (from Jayski): - Segment 1: 20 laps with the caution flag displayed at the end of Segment 1 for an optional pit stop. - Segment 2: 20 laps with the caution flag displayed at the end of Segment 2 for an optional pit stop. - Segment 3: 20 laps with the caution flag displayed at the end of Segment 3 for an optional pit stop. - Segment 4: 20 laps with the caution flag displayed at the end of Segment 4, once the field takes a lap behind the pace car, winners of segment 1-4 lineup in that order before heading on to pit road for a mandatory four-tire pit stop. The order in which the cars exit pit road is how they will line up for the 10-lap shootout with only green-flag laps counting - Segment 5: 10 green flag laps.
