Nissan y PlayStation han vuelto a unir fuerzas para organizar la cuarta edición de GT Academy, el torneo que combina conducción virtual y real. El programa de entrenamiento que busca nuevas promesas del automovilismo mundial, amplía sus límites con cuatro competiciones distintas para Europa, Alemania, Estados Unidos y Rusia. Mientras tanto, los cuatro graduados de las anteriores ediciones de GT Academy participarán en diferentes carreras de nivel internacional durante este año. Desde 2008, más de 1,5 millones de aspirantes han participado en GT Academy y cuatro afortunados han hecho realidad sus sueños compitiendo en algunas de las pruebas más importantes del mundo. Por si fuera poco, estos jóvenes pilotos han realizado un memorable año en los circuitos consiguiendo un podio en las 24 Horas de Le Mans, ganando la Copa Intercontinental de Le Mans y el Campeonato de Resistencia de Blancpain y terminando entre los tres mejores de las 24 Horas de Dubái. La primera fase de GT Academy en España se estrenará el 1 de mayo con un formato de juego nuevo que estará activo hasta el 24 de junio. Se trata de una fase de clasificación online dividida en ocho etapas en la que podrá participar cualquier usuario de PlayStation 3 de forma gratuita. In 2011, Bryan Heitkotter from California was crowned the first US winner of GT Academy at Silverstone, beating out 53000 racing hopefuls in becoming a professional racecar driver and now racing a Nissan 370Z Nismo RC in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series in the top GS (Grand Sport) class.
