John Andretti was born on March 12, 1963 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. His father Aldo is the twin brother of famous racing legend Mario Andretti. John himself is brother to Adam Andretti and cousins with Jeff and Michael Andretti - all of which have a keen interest in racing as well. Fittingly, his godfather is another racing legend, A.J. Foyt. John currently lives with his wife Nancy and children Jarrett (12/13/92), Olivia (3/29/95), and Amelia (5/10/00) in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Having spent much of his career in NASCAR, John Andretti has been competing in the top series every year since 1993, except for 2006. During the 2006 season, he focused his efforts more toward the Nationwide Series, and came up 12th in the final standings that year. His highest scoring year in the Cup Series was back in 1998 where he finished in 11th position. He made 33 starts and had 3 top-5s and 10 top-10s that season. He has also done some competing in the Craftsman Truck Series, but this has never been his main focus.
John Andretti has also spent quite some time racing in CART, where he made 74 career starts. From this, he only managed one win however, at the Gold Coast Grand Prix in Australia. During this time, John also became the first driver to compete in both the Indy 500 and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 in the same day. He added this feat to the record books in 1994.
More recently in 2008, Andretti spent some time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (where he started three races), NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (two starts), as well as participating in the Indy 500 and Grand-Am's 24 Hours of Daytona.
