Driver Bio

Anthony James (AJ) Allmendinger was born in Los Gatos, California on December 16, 1981 as Anthony James Allmendinger. By the time he was just five years old, he was already competing in BMX racing and moving up to the top of each division as he entered them. Within a few years, he'd moved on to four-wheeled vehicles, strapping into his first quarter midget at the age of eight.

Following that experience, AJ Allmendinger had a successful run at karting, in which he scored many victories and championships in his early teen years. By 2002, he became the Barber Dodge Pro Series Champion, having won six out of the ten races that season. The following year, he proved that his success was well earned as he became the Champ Car Toyota Atlantic Champion.

From there, he moved up into the Champ Car World Series ranks, earning himself the Roshfrans Rookie of the Year in 2004 and finishing the series that year in sixth place. AJ Allmendinger remained in Champ Car for another two years, finishing fifth and third in the series before turning his attention towards NASCAR in 2006.

Since then, AJ Allmendinger has been able to gain valuable seat time in the three premiere series - The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series and Craftsman Truck Series. During this time, he married Lynne Kushnirenko on January 19, 2007 in Palm Beach, Florida. In 2008, he continued to race in NASCAR, where he made several starts in the Sprint Cup Series, as well as a start in the Nationwide Series and Craftsman Truck Series.
