After being the first to take the checkered flag during Sunday’s Pennsylvania 500, Carl Edwards was once again able to do his famous back flip. This win at Pocono Raceway marked his fourth victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this year, which moved Edwards up to the third position in the championship standings.

Everyone watched in anticipation, as no one was quite sure if Edwards could make it all the way to the end without a final splash-and-go. The Sunoco race fuel was a growing concern amongst the top teams, after several cars ran out of gas, and ended up coasting around the track in the final laps of the race.

Several of the lucky drivers would later run out of gas shortly after crossing the finish line.

2008 Pennsylvania 500 Results from Pocono Raceway

Following his second place finish at this year’s Neste Oil Rally Finland, Mikko Hirvonen continues to lead in the World Rally Championship standings. The overall winner of the event was Sebastien Loeb, who currently sits second in the WRC Championship and was able to narrow the gap between himself and the leading Hirvonen to just one point.
